As an SAP consulting team, we support the Volkswagen Group and our customers as they continue to build a modern IT architecture, whereby we focus in particular on the latest generation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions.
ERP solutions are software applications that include a central database. These applications help companies efficiently manage their business processes. Among other things, ERP solutions collect and store information from various company divisions, units, etc. and enable a seamless exchange of the data. Such a setup improves communication, coordination and efficiency throughout the entire organisation.
For our customers, our approach here involves a switchover to the SAP HANA in-memory database, which can process large amounts of data in realtime. As an in-house consulting and long-term partner, we have been working together with the Volkswagen Group for 20 years, in line with our motto: “Pooling interdisciplinary expertise and incorporating it into the Group.”
We work with SAP Customizing to align the SAP ERP system and its functions with the specific requirements and demands of our customers. Here we use SAP Solution Manager and, depending on the role involved, we have the access rights that are needed in order to make adjustments in the source and target systems. Our customers benefit from a tailored system that optimally supports their processes and organisational structures. We also professionally organise and coordinate the test phases on the system side.
Ensuring a smooth and sustainable SAP rollout depends not only on the technology employed but also on the extent to which future users accept the new and unfamiliar system. For this reason, we as SAP consultants support our customers throughout the entire change-management process and provide the information users need to be able to understand the S/4HANA system. Within the framework of this approach, we analyse SAP best practices in terms of how they relate to our customers’ requirements, and in this manner enable the success of the associated projects for our customers. We organise training sessions that prepare system users for their new roles in the SAP landscape and provide the specialised and technical documentation needed for this.
An SAP rollout involves specific technical and organisational challenges. As experienced specialists for rollout support, we help the Volkswagen Group overcome these challenges. Our service covers the entire rollout process – from strategy development to customised implementation and the application of best practice approaches. We accompany the rollout step by step on both the national and international level, assist with the creation of contingency plans, and monitor, report on and document performance indicators.
Data management plays a decisive role in SAP rollouts in terms of ensuring smooth work with our customers’ new system in future. Together with our customers, we analyse all the data that will have to be transferred. On the basis of this analysis, we then determine the optimal migration method for each data object, whereby we primarily use SAP S/4HANA standard tools such as the Data Migration Cockpit. We also get extensively involved in overall project planning in order to ensure the availability of data for each test phase and the migration go-live. In addition, we offer the option of using data cleansing to migrate cleaned data to the target system.
Along with traditional project management, agile project management is now also becoming more and more important, especially in relation to software development. For us, being able to react to change is more important than sticking to a plan at all costs. That’s why we design the transformation dynamically in the project process and utilise agile methods such as SCRUM and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Close and flexible cooperation between our project teams and our customers plays a major role in ensuring the successful completion of our projects.
