Experiencing service diversity: Open House 2024

Volkswagen Group Services opened its doors at its Open House event, at which services that will continue to support the Volkswagen Group going forward were presented from 17 to 19 June.
At 22 stands, business partners from the Group, guests from the political realm, and media representatives and employees were able to learn more about our diverse service portfolio.

A look at the services of the future

At the Open House, we offered a look at a wide range of innovative services and presented the latest generation of technologies using interactive exhibits and vehicles from the Group. Visitors were able to gain a comprehensive overview of topics at our four divisions: Technology, Logistics, Business Operation Services and Commercial Services.

Many of the pioneering services that were presented at the Open House demonstrate that we are in tune with the times and are constantly developing innovative ideas. At the same time, our work helps the Volkswagen Group achieve its goals within the framework of the Group strategy.

The use of AI (artificial intelligence) in production.

The Smart Factory and Consulting business units showed what Volkswagen Group Services has to offer in the area of artificial intelligence.
Visitors learned how ChatGPT and other programmes make everyday work easier and also saw how AI is already being used in production today.

Hands-on virtual technologies
Virtual technologies took centre stage at the stands of the Engineering Solutions, Virtual Engineering and Logistics teams. Guests were able to test various applications using VR and AR glasses or take a virtual tour of production halls. The Logistics division uses this innovative technology to capture local conditions in production facilities and plan its logistics services in the best possible way.

Mobile RDE laboratory for emission measurements

Other highlights of the Open House included the mobile RDE (real driving emissions) laboratory. A converted Crafter, which serves as a mobile workshop for emissions measurements in practical driving conditions, was on display here. RDE tests have been part of the Volkswagen Group Services portfolio since 2015. These tests are performed on Volkswagen vehicles under real driving conditions on approved routes, and in line with EU regulations.

Highly innovative business models

The New Business Development team develops new forward-looking business models for the Group, and it presented some of these at the Open House: One such business model involves the online-based sale of vehicle wrapping in collaboration with Volkswagen Germany – on display at the Volkswagen Group Services Special Vehicle Manufacturing stand. There’s also an app that gives motorcyclists early warning about obstacles or dangers such as aquaplaning on the roads.

I’m proud that we were able to show guests the many different areas of application for artificial intelligence (AI) at the Open House.
